Delta Chi Lambda

The Delta Chi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha was founded on February 19, 1949. The charter members were Dr. Fred Bobo, Dr. Peter Murrell, Stanley Herbert, Dr. Vincent Bevenue, William (Billy) Ford, George Brawley, Dr. James Carter, Roy Wilson, Emil O'Bee, Dr. Vernon Moore, and Wilbert Thomas.

In the 1950's and 1960's, Delta Chi Lambda enjoyed a high influx of members as part of the Great Migration of African-Americans from the rural South to Milwaukee. Some of the highlights of this era include the establishment of the first Alpha scholarship, the first spring formal, and a visit from Rev. Bro. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today, the Delta Chi Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha stands ready to develop leaders, promote brotherhood and academic excellence while providing service and advocacy for the Milwaukee community.

Notable Milwaukee Alphas include: Dr. William Finlayson, Dr. Randle Pollard, Rueben Harpole, Walter Burks, John Daniels, Wayne Embry, Junior Bridgeman, and Jason Fields.
